Me and Arvin watched this movie last night. I mucho cried at the end. I had no idea it was based on a book, which was based on a true story. You can
read more about the story on Wikipedia. I didn't cry because he died at the end. I cried because he forgave his parents and had completed the journey of his life, happily accepting his fate. I admire his courage for actually making it to Alaska, leaving everything behind. I think everyone dreams about "getting away" and going on a great adventure - maybe to find truth, happiness, or to see how far they can go. I think it's wonderful to do such a thing. However, I couldn't do anything like what Christopher Johnson McCandless did. The closest thing to that would be taking little vacations around the world. I absolutely love to travel! I love learning about new places and cultures. I also love nature and love to visit destinations that feature picturesque landscapes and seascapes. Some of my favorite vacation spots include Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii, The Grand Canyon, and Niagara Falls... so beautiful..
So.. getting back to the movie...It's a great story that almost anyone can relate to. Everyone has their own personal journey in life - whether it be physical or spiritual. I've read many blog posts and articles that emphasize how Chris didn't use common sense and could have survived if he only he was better prepared. I don't think it's just a story about
what not to do when planning a trip to Alaska. It's not just a story informing people to be smarter and better prepared when traveling in the wilderness. Instead it's a just story about this man's journey to find truth in his life.
