My Job

So this is where I work now... managing this lil shop in santa rosa. It's tough work - long hours. I've gotten pretty used to it - my body has adjusted and I lost 5 pounds during the first week we were open. I never run out of things to do - I'm always busy. It's been quite stressful so far, but going through those stressful times is the only way I'm going to learn how to do this. I'm well on my way to owning my own shop someday..

who i am and why i am here...

...if you read my profile, then you may already know a little about me. I copied and pasted that bio from my MySpace page. I wrote it sometime last year in October. I added some words to it. Things have definitely changed since then. When I wrote that, I was in the middle of job-hunting. I got out of the AF two months prior and was now looking for a secure job - something in Info Technology, right? Well I did find a job. I started working at the Computer Help Desk for Jackson Family Enterprises. We supported the Kendall-Jackson winery and all other wineries owned by the company. It was fun and only lasted exactly 3 months. I was happy! I thought I found the starting point for my new "civilian" life. Like I said, it didn't last long.

With my new life starting to take off, my bf of 3 years, Arvin, was also experiencing life-changing events. He and his good friend Arnel, had bought into a fast-food Philly cheese steak restaurant franchise (The Cheese Steak Shop) and were finally getting things going as far as construction and city approvals. During my 2nd month working, they asked me to be a full-time manager of the shop. After a long time of contemplation, I decided it would be a great opportunity for me. So I quit the Help Desk after three months, went to the Franchisee/Manager training and now I'm patiently awaiting the opening of the Cheese Steak shop.

So much for the M.A. in Information Technology Management. If the Cheese Steak Shop doesn't work out, at least I'll have something to fall back on, right? But I.T. constantly changes so it might be hard to get back into that field.

Anyway - like I said, it would be a good opportunity for me. After all, my ultimate goals/dreams are for me to be my own boss - why not get a head start now? Who would have thought - me in the fast food business. When I was a teen I never worked in the food biz. I don't even cook at home! But let me tell you, I loved making cheese steak sandwiches during training! It's just so different! It's also quite fulfilling - knowing that you're putting out a great product - it's a wonderful feeling!

So here I am at home again... and I'm getting fat! All I do is eat and sleep - and occasionally work on paperwork for the shop. My profile pic was also taken from my MySpace page. It's old.. in all my recent pics I'm a lil chubby..

so speaking of myspace.. i'm tired of it i guess. I hardly log on any more. That's why I'm here. I got a new phone - a palm centro (mine's black, not pink) - and when I was exploring the bonus features, I found a free download for VOX mobile software. When I found out what it was, I thought I'd give it a try and start mobile blogging. This camera takes great pics and I would love to share my experiences while I'm out and about. Sometimes I have so much to say and no one around to listen. So instead of picking up my new phone and calling someone, I think I'll just blog and share my thoughts and pics with everyone...
